What I Changed

I put a labels gadget in on the sidebar and I moved the about me gadget to the footer. I tried putting an image in but I couldn't get it to work for some reason.

Changes I've Made

I changed the template style from the default white to a black background with white text.

2.0 Technologies

If Ryde Library had 2.0 technologies we would use it in Young Adult fiction as a book club where teens can chat about their favourite and least favourite books and who knows maybe they will find someone who likes the same genre as them. We could also use the social media to create an online storytime/rhymetime where the chosen story is an eBook or eAudiobook. Finally we would use it to create a connection between the Local History Librarian and the community in Local Studies.

Ryde Library Service

There are little to no 2.0 technologies in the Ryde Library Service and I believe it is because any social media related to the library is actually purely council focused. e.g Council Facebook page, Council Twitter page, Council Youtube channel, etc.

About Me

I'm a Facebook user, I check it twice a week but it wasn't always that way. When I made it several years ago I used it a lot but over the span of just under a decade I stopped using it for a long time it wasn't until just recently that I got back into using it.

I most dislike Instagram as most people who use it end up posting selfies all the time and its just so stupid it reminds me of my cousins from Queensland all they ever do is post selfies especially the youngest of the two who's only one year older than me.

I chose to watch Privacy Matters and I found it interesting that he managed to find all these facts about a topic that everyone chose to ignore.

Podcasts and Libraries

A digital audio file made available on the internet for downloading to a computer or portable media player, typically available as a series, new instalments of which can be received by subscribers automatically.

The podcast that I chose to look at was called Key Texts 2015: Picasso's Guernica it is talk about the artwork and deciphering the hidden story it tells.

Book Reviews Do They Matter?

Book Reviews are very useful to libraries as it allows them to determine which books are in high demand and which are in low demand. Libraries should be providing this service as it not only benefits themselves but also their users as well. My library does have this feature in its catalogue but you can only use it if you are a member of the library.

Libraries and Social Networks

I think it is a good idea for libraries to participate on social networking sites as it works like advertising and helps get the library noticed netting the library more users.

Blogging

I chose to look at the Librarian in Black blog and I liked it because of its cartoony nature and look and on top of that some of the post topics are quite interesting in my opinion.

Library 2.0

1. Library 2.0 is a loosely defined model for a modernised form of library service that reflects a transition within the library world in the way that services are delivered to users. The focus is on user-centered change and participation in the creation of content and community, three different Library 2.0 applications are Facebook, Flickr and Wordpress.
